The cupboards are bare (nearly) - out for dinner it is then!

The cupboards are bare and this week is long and slow as work isn’t going so well - so I’ve decided I’m going out for tea as it’s time for a treat. However, it’s also the end of the month and despite budgeting funds are running low so as usual I'll be doing it on the cheap. When I’m going out to eat I always check out Martin’s Money Saving Expert website as he has a whole page on his website dedicated to printable restaurant vouchers; 2 for 1’s, 2 for £10 etc.

Most people by now know that standard places like Pizza Express and La Tasca pretty much always have an offer of some kind but offers do change week to week and it’s a great place to find the most up to date offers and deals. There’s a pretty wide choice of vouchers to use so you won’t be stuck for choice.

Here’s the top restaurant deals for this week:

1. Prezzo – 2 for £10 (Valid everyday up until 29th November)
2. ASK – 50% off your food bill (not valid on drinks – boo can be used until the 29th November)
3. CafĂ© Rouge – 2for1 on main meals (valid until the 28th November)
4. O’Neills – 2for1 on main meals (valid until the )
5. La Tasca – 50% off the food bill (valid until 24th November – NOT valid on Saturdays)  http://www.latasca.co.uk/promotions/
6. And the old favourite Pizza Express – 2for1 (you have to pay £1 towards the second meal which goes to charity)
 7. Another Pizza Express deal and one that I 've only just found out about - Did you know that Orange customers can use message they recieve when you text 'Film' to 241 for cinema tickets for 2for1 in Pizza Express AND you get a free starter (Garlin Bread or Garlic Dough Balls). Mega. You just need to show the text from Orange when you get into the restaurant.

Happy mid-week – almost there!

Love Wagamama?

I love Wagamama’s. In fact I’d go as far to say it’s one of my favourite places to eat out. However, what I’m less in love with is the price of Wagamama’s; a meal for 2 (with a drink) is likely to set you back by at least £25. So a couple of months ago  I decided to try making my own version of a wagamama classic – ramen noodles on the cheap.

Now this can’t be made with any old packet of supernoodles you’ve got lying around; but don’t fear you can get hold of authentic ramen noodles easily from a local oriental supermarket and they only cost at most 65p a pack – and the pack is a LARGE serving.

Most large towns and definitely cities will have an oriental supermarket of some kind it’s just case of scouting it out but once you do you open yourself up to whole new world of oriental (and quite often cheaper than the supermarket) ingredients. I’ve found this website, Oriental Mart which sells them for a mere 30p a pack!

Anyway once you’ve cooked your lovely noodles you’re free to add whatever extras take your fancy – chicken, tofu, veg (even prawns if you’re feeling particularity flush). If you’re really getting into it you can pick up some chinese veg like pak choi (normally about 99p) at the oriental supermarket whilst your buying your noodles.

So give it a go next time you want something different – it sure beats supernoodles on toast!

Savings on winter woolies

So seen as winter’s well and truly here and the nights are drawing in earlier and earlier I decided it was definitely time to bring out the winter woolies. However, when I finally managed to locate them from the suitcase at the back of the cupboard I remembered how tired and old my jumpers and thick cardies were looking and how uninspired I was by the though of wearing them again for another year. Winter clothes are often bulky and expensive so pick up some essentials now using the money off deals below to keep you going for the winter – you can make significant savings.

  1. ASOS 20% off with valid NUS card, you just need to enter your number at checkout. (By the way I recently bought something from here and unfortunately had to return it but returns were free and it was so easy!
  2. H&M have 20% off one item when you buy online. The H&M shop is new and 25% is well worth taking advantage of. All you have to do is subscribe to the newsletter online – it’s valid until January '11.
  3. GAP are offering 15% off at the moment when you register for their newsletter (you can always unsubscribe after you’ve got the voucher, I do). The voucher can be used in store or online and is valid for 45 days.
  4. And finally La Senza, (not really a well known stockist for winter woolies I know), have they do have a 20% voucher in their magazine which can be found in store, it’s on the back cover and is valid until November 30th.

How to live like your stinking rich on a small budget.

Well not quite - but as they say 'god loves a trier'.

Although I've recently graduated from Bournemouth Uni with a degree in Events Management I've managed to land myself with yet another low paid job and alas my plans of being a high flying (and highly paid) graduate haven't quite come to fruition (yet).

So i've decided to start a blog which I hope will bring together all of the little money saving tips and tricks that I've discovered on my previous journey through student-dom as well all money saving deals from the high street and beyond that I will be sharing with you on my journey though new graduate territory.
